OPPOSING THUMBS As Collaborators of the artist-run space Art of This for the past four years, John Marks and David Petersen have butted heads on more than enough occasions. However, despite disagreements regarding aesthetic, conceptual, political or philosophical concerns, they have managed to successfully navigate AOT through the stormy waters of this discord, the organization’s economic strife, and their own self-destructive behaviors. It is in this spirit that they present Opposing Thumbs, their first month-long exhibition in the space they have financed for so many others.

ART OF THIS GALLERY is a non-profit, artist-run art space in south Minneapolis in its fourth year of operation. AOT is dedicated to engaging Minneapolis/St. Paul communities in an awareness, participation and dialog regarding art’s role in society, by exhibiting contemporary, socially relevant, and experimental artworks, including but not limited to all forms of 2-D and 3-D work, installation, videos and performance pieces, by local and national artists. contact: gallery@artofthis.net
